Our Surveyor

I am a Chartered Building Surveyor and was elected to membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in 1996.

I was born and raised in Barnsley and after gaining a BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying at Salford University in 1993, I went to live and work in London and the Southeast.

I have experience of working with a variety of different clients on residential, commercial, educational and industrial buildings.   The most valuable and enjoyable aspects of this work included maintaining prestigious properties for The Crown Estate and dealing with some of the iconic buildings within the City of London.

Michael Kelly BSc, MRICS
Chartered Building Surveyor

As a Chartered Building Surveyor, I have experience not just in undertaking residential surveys but in many other aspects of surveying including; refurbishment works, dilapidations, party wall matters and contract administration.  This means that I have seen buildings virtually taken apart and put back together and I am familiar with some of the legal and other issues that can arise.

The most interesting part of the job is explaining to a prospective purchaser what is (or isn’t) wrong with a property that they are about to take on.  I enjoy the detective work involved in undertaking a survey, diagnosing defects and advising on the best way forward.  It’s always satisfying when you get good feedback from a client.  A building survey can highlight potential problems that might never have occurred to the buyer, or it can put their mind at ease about other issues.  Every day is different and there is always something new to learn.

“With our property surveys we aim to give you easy to understand expert guidance and advice.”
